Miss World PH highlights high fashion, Filipino talent in charity gala

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 2) — High fashion and Filipino designers were celebrated at this year’s Miss World Philippines charity gala held Wednesday night at Okada Manila.

The thirty-six candidates vying for the Miss World PH Organization (MWPO) crowns went head to head in the final set of pre-pageant activities before the coronation night. The charity gala featured three segments: the talent presentation, the Creative Wear Segment, and the Top Model Competition.

The event opened with five finalists showing off their skills in the talent presentation. Candidates from Albay, San Juan, Iloilo, and Las Piñas displayed their dance, while crowd favorite Negros Occidental showcased her vocals with a song number.

The MWPO introduced the first-ever creative wear segment which aims to highlight the hometowns and provinces of the aspiring beauty queens, while championing the world-class talent of Filipino designers.

Cassandra Chan of San Juan and Maria Gigante of Cebu were announced as the winners of two special awards: Best Creative Editorial and Best Fashion photo.

The Top Model Competition capped off the charity gala, as the aspiring beauty queens rocked the runway in proudly Filipino-made evening gowns. The judges narrowed down those still in the running from thirty-six to ten finalists.

Winners of the talent portion and the Top Model Competition will be announced on coronation night. They will earn an automatic spot in the semifinals.

The thirty-six beauties aim to win one of the four crowns up for grabs: Miss World Philippines, Miss Supranational Philippines, Miss Eco Philippines, and Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas. The winners will represent the country in the international pageants happening later this year.

CNN Philippines will air the 2022 Miss World Philippines coronation night on June 5 at 9 p.m. The much-anticipated pageant will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
