The Miss Eco International is under fire among beauty pageant aficionados as news spread that some candidates have tested positive for the coronavirus.

On Tuesday, April 6, the Miss World Philippines (MWP) organization clarified that they are “coordinating closely” with its partner organization and that Kelley Day remains its “topmost priority.”

“The ALV Group of Companies is coordinating closely with the Miss Eco International organization in ensuring the health and safety of all the candidates in its recently concluded pageant,” national director Arnold Vegafria said in the statement.

“Our official candidate, Ms. Kelley Day, remains our topmost priority, and we remain optimistic as we await the results of the organizers' routinary medical testing procedures.”

In a deleted Instagram post, the Miss Eco International organization cited that they are doing the best they can to take “good care” of all the infected candidates.

The statement said, “Miss Eco International will ensure the safety of all our candidates.

“All accusations made publicly against us may have taken out of proportion. We are trying our best to coordinate with everyone, including the ladies who are still here in Egypt.

“And we have fulfilled our duties as promised. And we're taking good care of all our infected queens. We thank all our national directors and candidates for their support and understanding.”

Many beauty pageant pages have alleged that several officials, contestants, and national directors are stranded in Egypt after testing positive for the virus.

Because of this, Miss Peru's national director, Jessica Newton, had decided to cut ties with the organization and said that they won't be sending any beauty queen at the Miss Eco International.

She posted on her Instagram Stories, “@missperuofficial won't send another queen to this pageant anymore. What happened was out of a terror movie and it's not over yet.

“In the beginning, I believed it was just gossip, but it is worse than you can imagine.”
