Cape Town - Miss World 2019 returns to London on 14 December for the pageant's 69th year.

Miss World Organisation chairperson and CEO, Julia Morley made the announcement on Good Morning Britain with Piers Morgan.

Last year East London-born beauty queen, Thulisa Keyi's Miss World dreams were cut short when she failed to advance beyond the top 30 at the annual pageant hosted in Sanya, China.

This year's Miss SA pageant received a record-breaking number of entries with over 900 entries received.

The judges have announced the top 35, with the grand finale taking place on 9 August, at Sun International's flagship venue, the Sun Arena at Time Square in Pretoria.

The chosen South African representative will have three months to prepare, arriving in London on 20 November, for the three-week festival, with the grand finale taking place on 14 December at ExCel London.

The opening ceremony will be held in London, with each contestant competing in a series of fast track events that guarantee a place in the top 30.

The last Miss World to be crowned in London was our very own Rolene Strauss in 2014. Before her, Anneline Kriel won in 1974, and Penelope Coelen won in 1958.

The current Miss World is Vanessa Ponce of Mexico who was crowned on 8 December 2018 in Sanya, China.

Miss World 2020 will be hosted in Thailand.
