Miss World Vanessa Ponce Meets Uganda’s President

Mexican Beauty Queen, Vanessa Ponce de Leon, the 68th Miss World has met with Uganda’s President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at his country home in Rwakitura Western Uganda.

Ponce, who is in Uganda for a six-day visit was in the company of Miss World Africa Quiin Abenakyo.

While at Rwakitura, President Yoweri Museveni urged the two beauty queens to popularize Uganda’s tourism potentials.

“I’m happy that the Miss World pageant was being used to promote tourism globally. Uganda is the best destination in the world because of its unique climate,” said Museveni.

Museveni said tourism has a great potential to benefit many people in the world if the sector’s potential is fully utilized.

Silvia Vanessa Ponce de León Sánchez was born on 7 March 1992, also known simply as Vanessa Ponce, is a Mexican model and beauty queen who was crowned Miss World 2018. She is the first Mexican to be crowned as Miss World.

Vanessa Ponce was born in Mexico City, Mexico, She studied International Commerce at the University of Guanajuato, in the state of Guanajuato.

She resided for ten years in the State of Aguascalientes, Mexico and also in the State of Guanajuato, Mexico for five or six years.

Later, she returned to her hometown the Mexico City, Mexico to live and work. She holds a degree in International Business and is on the board of directors of a rehab centre for girls and women.

She supports non-profit foundations in different social areas. She speaks the English language with fluency, in addition to her mother tongue, Spanish.

She has a diploma in human rights. She volunteers with an organization called “Migrants on the Road” which consists of serving migrants in certain states of the Mexican Republic, and she is also a speaker at the “National Institute of Youth” in Mexico.

In the ceremony of her coronation as Miss World 2018, she promoted her project called “Na Vili”, whose objective is to help the children of the indigenous day labourers who emigrate from State of Guerrero, Mexico to State of Guanajuato, Mexico.

She also works in a school called Nenemi that is dedicated to giving intercultural education to indigenous people.

Ponce is this evening expected to grace the Crowning of Miss Uganda 2019 at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel.
