Mayor LaToya Cantrell has announced that the city will host the 71st Miss Universe pageant on Saturday, January 14, 2023. The international event will be held at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. “The City of New Orleans and the Miss Universe Organization share common values of celebrating inclusion, culture and women’s empowerment,” said Mayor LaToya Cantrell. “Hosting this event demonstrates the significant global impact that an international city like New Orleans has on the world’s tourism and cultural stages. We’re honored to host the 71st Annual Miss Universe Pageant and show people around the world why New Orleans is the best in the world when it comes to major events, festivals, conferences and conventions with a culture perform that is absolutely second to none.” At the event, approximately 90 women from around the world will compete for the role of Miss Universe through personal statements, in-depth interviews and various performance categories including evening dresses and swimwear. The highlight of the evening will be the 70th Miss Universe, Harnaaz Sandhu, who brought the title back to India for the first time in 21 years and crowned her successor.
