Next Miss Universe winner will get a new crown

MANILA – The winner of the Miss Universe 2019 pageant is set to get a new crown.

This after the Miss Universe Organization announced on its social media accounts on Wednesday (Manila time) that the luxury jeweler Mouawad is now its official crown sponsor.

“Watch the Miss Universe diamond crown by Mouawad Jewelry make its debut at the 68th annual Miss Universe competition,” read a post on the organization’s Instagram page, which showed photos of its reigning titleholders Catriona Gray (Miss Universe), Cheslie Kryst (Miss USA), and Kaliegh Garris (Miss Teen USA).

The Mouawad diamond crown will replace the Phoenix Mikimoto crown, which was passed on to Gray by her Miss Universe predecessor, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa.

Mikimoto was also the crown sponsor for Miss Universe from 2002 to 2007.

Established in Lebanon in 1890, Mouawad markets itself as a jewelry house specializing in “crafting the extraordinary.”

Its pieces have been worn by international celebrities such as Kendall Jenner, Christina Aguilera, Zhang Ziyi, Tina Fey, and Amy Adams.
