NORTHERN Marianas College graduate Jan Zowie Cruz was crowned Miss Northern Marianas Earth 2023 on Sept. 22.
Because there was no beauty pageant held this year, the board of members of Exquisite Productions Marianas Inc. took a vote to select a new Miss Earth at the Ada Gym.
The 2019 Miss Northern Marianas Water, Cruz succeeded 2022 Miss Earth Katherine Maria Johnson.
Cruz, 22, has an associate degree in liberal arts from NMC.
In an interview, Cruz said it is her privilege to represent the NMI in the Miss Earth pageant in Vietnam this December.
"I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Exquisite Productions for this amazing opportunity," she added.
As Miss Northern Marianas Earth 2023, her vision "is to promote environmental awareness and sustainability while inspiring positive change in our community."
"I am excited to focus on initiatives that involve education and advocacy for environmental issues, community outreach, and leading by example in sustainable practices. Together, we can make a significant impact on the well-being of our environment and our people," Cruz said.
