THE Miss Marianas pageant is about transforming into a better version of yourself, 2018 Miss Marianas Celine Cabrera said.
During the presentation of the 2019 Miss Marianas candidates at Gold’s Gym on Saturday, Cabrera said the annual pageant is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Whenever she participates in community events, Cabrera said she talks to young women who have the potential to be Miss Marianas candidates. “I tell them they have the posture, the walk and the poise. But some of them say they lack self-esteem.”
Cabrera said the pageant is not just about what you already have.
“You go through a process. A few months into the pageant, you learn about yourself and the other girls who are also going through the same process. You will learn they have the same flaws like you and then you will realize that we are all humans and we are all beautiful in our own way, and that is when you build your self esteem.”
Cabrera encourages young women who dream of joining the Miss Marianas pageant to have the courage to go through it.
She also advised this year’s candidates — Junalyn Billedo, Riane Capalad, Merly Fernandez, Sharon Palacios and Shannon Sasamoto — “to let go of nervousness and focus on putting your best foot forward.”
Cabrera said they should cultivate an “I can do it” mindset.
“If you tell yourself you can do it, then you’ll be fine and you’ll be able to gain the confidence that you need in order to succeed in this pageant,” she added.
The 2019 Miss Marianas pageant will be held on June 15, 2019, Saturday, at Fiesta Resort & Spa.
