Five contestants of the Miss Asia Pacific International 2019 beauty pageant, including Miss Philippines Klyza De Castro, advanced to the top 25 semi-finals after they were proclaimed Continental Queens during its first of two preliminary competitions held at the Philippine International Convention Center in Manila last Friday night.

The Continental Queens were De Castro (Asia), Michele-Ange Minkata, Cameroon (Africa); Jessica Cianchino, Canada (Americas); Lauralyn Vermeersch, Belgium (Europe); and Chelsea Martin, New Zealand, (Oceana).
They were chosen from among the 54 candidates who submitted videos showcasing their personal advocacies and how they best relate to the organization’s own advocacy.
Miss Germany Denisse Nicole Ligpitan won the Best National Costume special award during the same event. Miss Malaysia was 1st runner-up while Miss Brazil Carolina Schuler 2nd runner-up.
Winners of corporate special awards were: Miss Philippines, Miss Hotel 101 and University of Perpetual Help Leadership Award; Miss Canada, Miss Culture Hair Salon; Miss Italy, Perpetual Help Choice: Miss Peru, Community Service; and Miss Israel, Congeniality.
“As a pageant organization, we take pride in our advocacy because we believe that true beauty lies in the camaraderie of women – when you see them together and them recognizing their differences,” said Miss Asia Pacific International President Jacqueline Tan.
Tan added: “We want Miss Asia Pacific International to be a venue for the world to realize that women can achieve their highest potentials, not in spite of their differences, but because of it.”
The grand coronation night of Miss Asia Pacific International 2019 pageant will be held at Resorts World Manila in Pasay City on Oct. 9.
