President Hage Geingob says title holders of the Miss Namibia pageant should promote positive activities that young people can emulate.
The President made the remarks when he congratulated the newly crowned Miss Namibia 2018, Selma Kamanya at State House today.
Kamanya was crowned Miss Namibia 2018 last Saturday at Windhoek Country Club and Resort.
President Geingob says he is proud of Kamanya, who was in the company of her parents and pageant organisers during the courtesy visit at State House.
The 21-year-old student from the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) will participate in the Miss Universe pageant in December this year.
Kamanya promised the Namibian leader that she would do her best to represent the country.
During her crowning, Kamanya revealed that she plans to focus on education, women empowerment and climate change issues.
