Emma Tepaeru Kainuku-Walsh, Miss Cook Islands 2019 pageant first runner-up in, will represent Cook Islands at the 60th Miss International beauty pageant this year.
The 27-year-old businesswoman owns the food outlet Nuku Kai.
Kainuku-Walsh says the International pageant will be held at the end of the year and from what she has heard it will take place in November.
“I am feeling hopeful to be part of this year’s 60th Miss International pageant 2021,” she said.
She said it was unfortunate but understandable that she could not attend last year’s pageant along with the other delegates, because of the huge shift in the world when Covid was brought to their attention and they were unable to travel abroad.
“There were many, many more issues in the world to give attention to last year regarding the pandemic and it’s safe to say that there is a strong possibility of travelling to Japan for the preliminary’s and pageant in November this year,” she said.
“I always feel fortunate and proud that we are one of very limited nations who are Covid-free.
“I hope everyone is staying safe and enjoying time with loved ones during this time of more uncertainty.”
Kainuku-Walsh will be sure to make Miss International aware of Cook Islands achievements and share her beautiful paradise with them when she has her live interview on Tuesday January 26, at 5pm (NZT).
