Destinee Arnold, 26, will represent Belize in Miss Universe 2019. She is the 30th woman to represent the country in the international beauty pageant run by the Miss Universe Organization, which is currently owned by the WME/IMG talent agency.

Arnold was born on February 5, 1993 in Roaring Creek, Belize where she is currently based. She attended California State University, Fullerton in Fullterton, California, United States, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology.

In Los Angeles, California, Arnold was crowned Miss Belize California 2011-2012. While studying at California State University, Fullerton, she was crowned Queen of the Jewel Miss Belize 2012-2013 on July 7, 2012.

As Miss International Belize 2012, Arnold represented Belize in Miss International 2012 in Okinawa, Japan on October 21, 2012 and was unplaced. Afterwards, she won the Miss Ethnic World 2013 title in Long Beach, California.

As the Queen of the Jewel Miss Belize 2012-2013, Arnold was supposed to represent Belize in Miss United Continents Pageant 2013 but she withdrew due to her studies. Representing Belize once again, she won the La Reina de La Costa Maya 2013 title on August 4, 2013 in San Pedro, Belize, besting seven other candidates.

On September 6, 2019, Arnold was crowned Miss Universe Belize 2019 at the Belize City Civic Center in Belize City, Belize, besting seven other candidates. Destiny Evelyn Wagner of Punta Gorda and Markeisha Young of Belize City were the respective first and second runners-up.

“When Miss Universe came on the television, I eagerly waited for them to announce Miss Belize,” Arnold told Naturally Curly prior to her coronation as Miss Universe Belize 2019. “My days in front of the television planted the seed of me wanting to one day have the honor of representing my country on the Miss Universe stage.”

Currently, Arnold is working in the insurance industry. As a community service volunteer, she has traveled to Cambodia on a mission and has worked with eating disorder centers.

“Growing up I didn’t know how to value myself, I thought that my value stemmed by someone who would tell me that I am valuable but I realized that depending on someone to tell me I have worth is misplaced value,” Breaking Belize News quoted Arnold as saying when asked in the question and answer portion about the obstacles she faced and overcame while growing up. “The moment that I knew that I was worthy despite what anyone says, I activated the power that was within me and now there is no obstacle that I cannot face and I stand here today as an example of what can happen when you value yourself.”

The Roaring Creek native was crowned by Miss Universe Belize Jenelli Fraser. The latter did not place in Miss Universe 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand.

If Arnold wins Miss Universe 2019, she will be the first ever titleholder of the beauty pageant from her country. The last time Belize placed in Miss Universe was in 1979 when Sarita Diana Acosta finished in the Top 12.

The reigning Miss Universe 2018 is Catriona Gray, 25, of the Philippines. She is the fourth Miss Universe from her country and the 67th woman to hold the title.
