SL to host ‘Miss Tourism World 2022’ global pageant

After competing with 15 countries, the National Director, Malith Ranasinghe and Coordinating Secretary to the State Tourism Ministry and Chief Adviser, Dr. Arosha Fernando secured to host the grand finale of the ‘Miss Tourism World 2022’ global pageant in Sri Lanka from 8 to 21 December 2022 with 80 winners from 80 Countries. To be selected as hosts in the final round Sri Lanka competed with Croatia and Russia and succeeded.

“As you would appreciate a lot of hard work went in to achieve this success with the fullest support from the Government as well as from the industry”, National Director of the ‘Miss Tourism World 2022’ pageant, Malith Ranasinghe said.

“This is one of the top five pageants globally which they have continually conducted for the past 74 years, and this year they celebrate the 75th anniversary in Sri Lanka”,Ranasinghe added.

“This event undoubtedly will be one of the best platforms to promote the tourism sector in Sri Lanka at this crucial hour. Contestants from 80 Countries will spend two weeks in Sri Lanka from 8 to 21 December attending 80 mini pageants which will culminate in the grand finale. During this time, they will visit important tourism sites including Kandy, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya, Habarana, Ella, Arugam Bay, Mirissa, Galle etc” said Dr. Fernando.

“The crowned 80 beauties will share photos and comments in their social media platforms while travelling around Sri Lanka during the two weeks where some have millions of followers. This is an efficient way to market tourism in Sri Lanka in this digital age with absolutely no cost to the State or to the industry. At the grand finale five best photographs will be selected and prizes will be awarded accordingly”
