Hailing from Talisay, Cebu, Gazini Ganados, 23, was one of the six queens crowned at the Binibining Pilipinas 2019 coronation night. She was named Miss Universe Philippines 2019.
Ganados was crowned by Miss Universe Philippines 2018 Catriona Gray. The latter is the reigning Miss Universe 2018.
Hosted by Richard Gutierrez, Anne Curtis and Nicole Cordoves, the Binibining Pilipinas 2019 coronation night took place at Smart Araneta Coliseum, Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines. It was the 56th edition of the national female beauty pageant of the Philippines.
A total of 40 Filipino women competed for six crowns. The winners will represent the Philippines in Miss Universe 2019, Miss International 2019, Miss Supranational 2019, Miss Grand International 2019, Miss Intercontinental 2019 and Miss Globe 2019.
Quezon City mayor-elect Joy Belmonte served as the chairman of the board of judges. Her fellow judges were actors Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz, James Reid, Daniel Padilla and Nadine Lustre, basketball player Christian Standhardinger, Grab Philippines president Brian Cu, president of Asia at Alorica Inc. Rainerio Borja, ABS-CBN vice president for television Bobby Barrero, Ambassador of Italy to the Philippines Giorgio Guglielmino and Ambassador of Spain to the Philippines Jorge Moragas.
It was Barrero who asked Ganados in the question and answer portion. He asked, “If you win the crown tonight, what can you do to get more women in the workplace?”
“If I win the crown tonight, what I will do is to promote my advocacy,” Ganados answered. “My advocacy is for us women to fight for our rights and for the elderly care and for us to be able to know that someone is loving and someone is pushing us to whatever ambitions that we have. We will be able to rise from our decisions to whatever dreams that we have, goals that we have, and we will achieve it because of those values, those wisdoms that they gave us.”
Born in 1995 in Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte, Philippines, Ganados earned a bachelor’s degree in Tourism at the University of San Jose-Recoletos in Cebu City. Her father is Palestinian and her mother is Filipino.
Aside from the Miss Universe Philippines 2019 crown, Ganados also won Best in Long Gown. Here is a clip featuring the Palestinian-Filipino beauty queen:
