A COMPUTER whizz has been crowned as the new Miss Grand Ireland.

The pageant was mired in controversy last month after pageant winner Hollie Funke Hersey, 22, accused the organiser of body shaming her, claims which he strongly denied.

After Hollie handed back her crown, Thai-born beauty Mint Sudawan Kumdee will now represent Ireland at the finals in Venezuela instead.

The 26-year-old, who has a master’s degree in Advanced Computer Science, told how she’s “can’t wait to meet the see the people of Caracas and to show the world how beautiful Venezuela is.”

She wrote on Instagram: “Thank you Miss Grand Ireland for the opportunity.

“I’m so grateful to have the experience of going to Caracas, Venezuela for the final of Miss Grand International in October.”

Originally Holly Funke Hersey, 22, was selected to represent Ireland at Miss Grand International finals in Venezuela this October.

Just weeks after being picked by the Irish franchise, she claimed she was body shamed by Manuel Munares, who she also says pinched her thighs while taking measurements and barged into a bathroom in which she was changing.

The Roscommon woman additionally claims Munares edited her images “unnaturally” and even said she ate like “a pig”.

But the Miss Grand Ireland franchise owner strongly denied the claims and insisted he deselected Hollie because she “became too diva” with “her demanding behaviour” and insists she gave him permission to take her measurements.

Hollie went public with the spat on social media and lifted the lid on the dramatic fallout.
