The supranational beauty battle rages on

THE Mister and Miss Supranational Namibia pageant has announced its final contestants for the pageant this year.

The event will kick off on 26 March and has 36 contestants, comprising nine men and 27 woman.

Speaking to unWrap.online last week national pageant director Willem Fourie said he hoped Covid-19 would not disrupt the event.

“Hopefully Covid regulations will allow us to have a pageant, like we were able to have in 2021. I am not a big fan of virtual pageants at all.

“The difference this year is that we will be hosting Miss and Mister Supranational Namibia, and exciting things will be happening, so follow our social media pages,” he said.

Fourie said the pageant is in need of more sponsors.

“Does one ever have enough funds for a pageant? I don't think people realise what it costs to host a pageant and prepare the winner for the year they carry the crown. Sponsors are very important to make it all happen.

“We do not get anything from the funds raised, all goes to the pageant and preparations of the title holder to represent Namibia at the international event,” he said.

Miss Supranational Namibia spokesperson Natasha Rabe says: “The Miss Supranational 2022 modelling show will start on 26 March. We are very excited about the pageant, and it won't be any different from last year. We hope Covid-19 will allow us to have mass tickets for the show.”

Contestants and many people around the country have expressed their excitement about the pageant on social media, predicting it would be one of the best this year.

Contestant Vehonga Mujoro and founder of the 'Let's Talk' show on social media says she is excited to take part in the competition.

“If you can dream it, you can always achieve it,” she says.

Contestant Aina Kweyo says: “I have learnt that when you're writing your story, it's important that you don't let someone else hold the pen. This is a chapter of my story I am looking forward to embracing with poise, gratitude and humility. I believe to give information is to give freedom.

“This is an opportunity for me to disseminate information through various communication channels that can restore hope among Namibians and empower them to harness their future with knowledge and intention. I am excited to work with various organisations and to echo their voices. Additionally, I am looking forward to discovering a new me.”

The winners will be afforded a holiday for two to Zanzibar, and a Gondwana Fly-in Safari for two to the Hakusembe River Lodge, as well as two nights for two at the Atlantic Villa Swakopmund, including a dolphin cruise by Catamaran Charters.

Additionally, they will receive return flight tickets for two to Cape Town, a Sinotec Smart LED TV, a Samsung S20 cellphone, a Proline Laptop 4GB HDD, George Forman grill, a gemsbok carcass, and a cash prize of N$15 000. – unWrap.online
