What Lalela Mswane's new title as Miss Supranational entails

Miss Supranational will return to South Africa next week for her for her official homecoming celebration.
Other duties include "travelling to many countries worldwide on behalf of the Miss Supranational Organisation to promote the brand and be a voice for young women."
After her long road to victory, Lalela Mswane is looking forward to another year of pursuing her goals while inspiring others.

The 25-year-old became the first South African to be crowned Miss Supranational earlier this month. She will hand over her Miss South Africa crown on 13 August, after which she will officially begin her reign as Miss Supranational.

In a quick Q&A with Channel24, the international pageant organisation shared more about her transition into the role of Miss Supranational, what her duties as reigning queen entail, what is next on her busy agenda, and the stunning crown she was enthroned with.

Tell us more about Miss Supranational's role?

As Miss Supranational, Lalela will be primarily based in South Africa, where she will use the Miss Supranational title not only to pursue her own aspirational goals but also as the queen, she will remain a servant of the people. Wherever there is a need for her to be, she will go. She will also be travelling to many countries worldwide on behalf of the Miss Supranational Organisation to promote the brand and be a voice for young women.

Lalela's 'From the Ground Up' Community Service Initiative focuses on the massive unemployment problem. Throughout the year, we will explore ways to spread her message to empower people to take ownership by starting their own entrepreneurial endeavours.

Lalela has already started her duties as Mis Supranational. What is next on her agenda in the coming months?

Our new queen met with the Ambassador of South Africa in Poland before she returns home for her official homecoming next week. Her international travels will start from the third quarter of the year. She will continue to be very visible in South Africa and use her new title to continue making an impact in the same way she did with her Miss South Africa title.

Tell us more about Lalela's transition from Miss SA to Miss Supranational?

Lalela's growth as a strong, modern, independent woman has been evident during her reign as Miss South Africa. She is authentic and fearless and will continue to stand for causes that she believes in. The added bonus is that she now also has an international platform, and she will continue to learn, grow and serve as she takes on her new role.

Lalela is the first to wear the new Miss Supranational crown. Can you tell us more about the stunning piece?

Ricardo Patrarca, a crown designer from Mexico, made the new crown. There are three main symbols that represent the values of the Miss Supranational Organisation. The intertwined rings represent the lasting bonds formed in the Supra Family. The ribbon elements represent the causes the contestants champion through their 'From the Ground Up' CSI projects, and the blue stones represent the tranquillity of the Supra spirit - the focus on living an experience that leaves the contestants with happy memories and transferable life skills that they can apply in other areas of their lives.
