Newly crowned Miss Universe-Philippines Catriona Gray expressed gratitude to those supported her in her bid to represent the country once again in an international pageant.
Gray, who finished in the top five of the 2017 Miss World competition, led the new batch of Binibining Pilipinas queens crowned Sunday night at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
She will represent Philippines in the 2018 Miss Universe pageant.
In a lengthy Instagram post on Monday, Gray revealed that she managed to fend off anxiety as she took the stage before the large audience on coronation night.
"After months of preparation and guidance and prayers, I kept waiting for a wave of nerves to hit me but it never came. Maybe it was God's gift to me that night, or maybe I just knew I had done everything to be ready, now it was just time for me to enjoy and have fun," she said.
Referring to being crowned anew, she added: "Just to think that I'm going to be able to say 'Catriona Gray, Philippines' gives me the chills all over again. How do I begin to thank all of the beautiful souls who have been so generous and kind with their time, effort and resources? Truly, I would not have been able to realize this dream without you all."
Gray went on to thank, one by one, those who had significant roles in her journey as the new Miss Universe-Philippines, including pageant organizer Binibining Pilipinas Charitities, Inc. and its founder, Stella Marquez-Araneta.
She also thanked her training and glam team, the people behind her impeccable looks for the pageant, her friends, partner, and family. Concluding her post, she expressed gratitude to her fans, who arguably had the loudest presence in the live audience of the finals night.
"Lastly to my #Catrionians what an amazing journey we've been on. Through the highs and lows you've never left my side. For your love, dedication and ceaseless support...I'm am forever grateful that you've chosen me as your queen. This is all for you. Let's do this," she said.
