Another brown skin girl making Africa proud, but she's got more than her charming black beauty.

Black is beautiful and a brown skin girl has just proven that maintaining a natural beauty is a worthy thing.

Vimbai Chapungu, a Zimbawean, has been crowned Miss London 2019, making her the first black person to hold the title and also a finalist for this year’s Miss England beauty pageant. Apart from her stylish walkway appearance, she's also an epitome of beauty with brain. She is an advocate of natural African hair.

According to her, "Black is still being policed in today’s society, and it is only now that people are talking about it, thanks to the few women who have fought for the normalisation of natural hair.”

Zimbabwean Mail reports that Chapungu wore her natural hair during the pageant and she emerged in the top three of the 55 contestants for the bare-faced model title.

As a Masters’ degree student at a London university, her Masters thesis is on the Natural Hair Movement, which is a social phenomenon that seeks to empower Black women to wear their hair in its natural state, as opposed to chemically processing their hair which has adverse health issues. She is also a trained singer and part-time model.

Chapungu, 24 years of age participated in the Miss England Final held in Newcastle. The contestants participated in Sports Round and Talent Round to an eco-wear Round and even a general knowledge quiz.

She qualified as one of the 50 finalists out of other 20,000 women that entered this year’s competition.
