The 71st Miss World pageant is being held in India after a 28-year hiatus. The last time the pageant was held in 1996 in Bengaluru.

71st Miss World: The 71st Miss World pageant has kickstarted in India after a gap of 28 years. The event is being presented by Delhi-based Vikas Lifecare Limited's subsidiary PME Entertainment.


The event will host participants hailing from more than 120 countries, hoisting the cultures of their respective countries at the renowned international dais with grace, elegance and beauty.


PME Entertainment is a Dubai-based global entertainment firm, producing concerts and events.


The 71st Miss World pageant is being held in India after a 28-year hiatus. The last time the pageant was held in 1996 in Bengaluru.


The month-long event will start with an opening ceremony on February 20. The India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) will host the opening ceremony in New Delhi.
Sini Shetty, the Femina Miss India World 2022 titleholder, will represent India at the esteemed.


Earlier on Monday, contestants visited the Raj Ghat, the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial, to pay their respects to the father of the nation. The serene surroundings of the memorial provided a poignant moment for the candidates to reflect on Mahatma Gandhi's life and legacy of peace and non-violence.


"The Miss World event is not just a platform for beauty and glamour; it is also an opportunity for young women to immerse themselves in different cultures, promote humanitarian causes and foster global unity. Vikas Lifecare Limited and PME are honoured to be a part of the prestigious event, which aligns with its commitment to promoting diversity, empowerment and cultural exchange," VLL said in a release.


The event will reach its pinnacle with a spectacular grand finale on March 9 in Mumbai. The event is scheduled to be telecast live from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm on March 9 from Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai


Reita Faria Powell was the first Indian woman to win the Miss World crown in 1966. Aishwarya Rai had won the tile in 1994, followed by Diana Hayden in 1997, Yukta Mookhey in 1999, Priyanka Chopra in 2000 and Manushi Chhillar in 2017.
